Well if the sub-module is still around you can run `sudo apt purge ros-kinetic-usb-cam` to get rid of the binary and see if the image in rviz shows up.
You will also need to do a `catkin clean -y` and a `catkin build`

The camera now shows up in the rqt! Thank you very much.

Do you know why the "stoi" error shows up? And why it appears disconnected?

Great,

The gui code that we can't change has some major flaws.
There is a string to integer conversion (stoi) causing it just ignore it. 

If you wait awhile(20 seconds) the rover link quality should show connected and the connection speed.
